DYRMS 'Corps and Fifes' at practice on the beach at Saunton Sands in around 1943 .... when Dukie boys were Evacuated to there during World War II between 1941 & 1946.  The Drum Major above was Boy Peter Cartwright (who later rose to be Chief School Prefect.  On leaving School and later graduating from RMA Sandhurst, he soon became a Lieutenant in the Royal Scots Fusiliers, moving on to serve in the Special Air Service.  The reader is urged to visit Art Cockerill's page about Lt. Cartwright for full details.)
