| For security reasons, the GEDCOM file of My Family Tree is no longer available for you to download. |
With MANY thanks to one Robbie J. Akins of Wellington, New Zealand who authored the Shareware Family Tree program Scion Genealogist back in around 1993 ... for the Amiga 'platform' of computers. By the year 1999 we were up to Version 5.88 of this excellent program which I had been using since around 1984. When I knew I was moving to the PC platform (April 2000) I contacted Robbie for advice on how to move all my personal data from the Amiga onto my PC. Very kindly, he taught me how to save in GEDCOM format & then `import` into the PC Family Tree program of my eventual choice.
In early April 2001 I downloaded Legacy (for details, see my Links page) & duly imported my own GEDCOM file. (Yes, one year later!!) Eureka! It all 'went in' safely ... saving me a lot of work as I had fully expected to 'start from scratch' on my resuming Genealogic project. [I'm sure that there are many other Genealogy programs that are as good as, or maybe even better than, Legacy; the latter just happens to be the one recommended to me & that I find works fine. Incidentally, I am now working on Version 5 of this program.] The results of my labours (till now) used to be available to be downloaded by following a hyperlink under the baby's nappy [or 'diaper'] above -- I presume, surely, the only time my reader would wish to be so close to such an item of apparel!! The idea was to UNZIP the downloaded file & then IMPORT the resultant GEDCOM file into the Family Tree program of your choice. Since Identity Fraud now seems to be so rife it no longer seems prudent to have such information available for you all to read: as usual the minority spoil things for the majority.
I shall continue updating my `Tree` but will no longer post the archived file that once was available for your download, so you will no longer be able to follow my progress. (You're always welcome to contact me personally on the subject of course.) Hopefully though, maybe YOU can still be persuaded to try and compile a Family Tree of your own??!! Good Luck.
