For those 'in the know' the routine being played out here is Silray's "The Clown's Shoes".  Basically, the youngster (along with his watching pals) helps (or hinders!) my 'clever' arranging for a chosen pair of coloured shoelaces to 'magically' become threaded in the cut-out shoes he holds.  I look crestfallen here because at first (in true Clown tradition) the WRONG colour laces have arrived on the shoes ..... which is obviously the fault of the children!  A second later there's uproar as the audience tell me that it's all MY fault!  All works out in the end, of course, and my assistant has earned his prize .... a pair of shoe laces!! (made of liquorice or similar edible substance!)
