Subject: re the buy a tablet fund raising scheme
Would living ex apprentices names appear on the tablets
should they contribute over the £75 proposed? Is the memorial there to record
the names of ex A/Ts that have passed on (died) or is it just to record the
names of those that contribute to the scheme? sincerely, Charles

Hi Charles, Thanks for your enquiry. The Tablet scheme is
our main fund raiser and as such it gives all who donate £75 or more, some
token of their support for the project and something lasting for their families
and friends to remember them by, who may visit the Arboretum in later years. Of
the tablets ordered so far (around 100), most are by living ex A/Ts. One or two
ex-boys who have donated £75 or more, have declined to have a tablet and we
respect their wishes. The Memorial records and commemorates the lifetime of the
Army Apprentice scheme. It offers a quiet place for contemplation, and
remembrance, by visiting relations and friends of ex Army Apprentices.
Regretfully it was found impossible to operate any satisfactory method to
collate the names of all those who have passed on. It would also prove
impossible to update fully in the future from a cost or logistics position.Trust
this answers your queries and gives you confidence to join us with a donation.
With regards, Max Warwick (Arb 49B) Webmaster www.armyapprenticememorial.co.uk
