Yes, it was the WVS Blackpool trip!

Front row, from left to right:  Bill Fry, Johnnie Filsell, Robert DaForno, Pat Hodgkinson and Tony Dadds ... all of C Platoon, Intake 63B, Recruit Company back in around June 1963.

Thanks to Bill Fry, they're all named at last!  Note the wondrous SD uniform of those days ... somewhat the worse for wear here considering a long coach journey from Harrogate to Blackpool, a suffocatingly hot day and, perhaps, an odd 'drink' or two consumed by its inhabitants before this picture was taken!  Oops! -- there's a breast pocket button undone, a 'skew whiff' white belt ---  and HOW COME Pat had been issued with an OPEN NECK SD tunic?  Lovely 'highly polished' shoes though, everyone!

Blimey! - yes - Cliff Richard and Susan Maughan, Bill reminds me that we saw them 'in Concert' at a theatre in the town that evening!)  I'd forgotten that:  I well remember spending the afternoon in the open air (the Irish Sea!) Swimming Bath though.  Jees ... it was a hot day!  That I WON'T forget!!!
