Grand Day 1962

The mention of 'The Brig' i.e. Brigadier George Laing (late Duke of Wellington's Regiment) reminds me of his eternal love of 'Rugga' as he pronounced it!  Similarly, one of his sentiments was certainly parodied in our 1962 presentation of G & S "The Gondoliers" when (I think) the Duke of Plazatoro announced "Work hard; stick at it --- Nothing like Work"!!

The article above also quotes that "the ceremony opened with a new fanfare - Grand Day 1962 - played on the new memorial fanfare trumpets".  What ever became of both the trumpets themselves I wonder .... and, indeed, the other seven trumpeters?!
